The Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) hosted Power and Progress Co-Author Daron Acemoglu and Gary Marcus (NYU and Geometric Intelligence), author of Rebooting Al: Building Artificial Intelligence We Can Trust (2019) as part of the IEO seminar series. The two discussed whether there’s a future where AI is developed in a human-positive way, and if so, what the government’s role should be in regulating new technology.
